PERC Special Events

The PERC Special Events Committee holds fund-raising events through out the year for the Peace and Environment Resource Centre. Last year we managed to raise thousands of dollars that supported our organization's effort to empower community-based activism.

If you want to contact the events team, you can mail us at perc@perc.ca.

Garage Sale

On Saturday, May 24th PERC will be participating in the Greate Glebe Garage Sale. We will be selling items donated by our volunteers, members, and friends to help raise funds for the coming year.

If you have items you want to donate, please sign up on wiki. If you can volunteer a vehicle for donation pickup, or time for sorting, pricing or selling (on May 22nd, 23rd, or 24th), please sign up on wiki.

If you don't want to use wiki, or have any questions, please email us at perc@perc.ca.

Caroling

The 2002 PERC caroling went well. Despite warm weather, and a very real lack of snow, Bank Street pedestrians still gave money, and still stopped to listen to our singing. Thanks to the PERC volunteers and their friends who came out and sang for us.

Square Dance

The Square Dance is one of PERC's most enjoyable events. The evening starts with a quick crash course to square dancing, and then, at 8:00, the dancing begins in earnest. Throughout the night, we sell raffle tickets, and delectable baked goods. Finally, we end up with the raffle, and the annual sacrifice of the cement piñiata (okay, it's not really cement, but it puts up a darn good fight before it surrenders its candy).

Where: St. Giles Hall, First Avenue and Bank Street
Cost: $8 or $6 (low income)
Attendees: lots

Play Benefit

This year's play was The Begats, a funny and heartwarming look at "the tragedy of not being able to choose your family". Our PERC vols did an amazing job at selling tickets for a great play.

PERC Garage Sale

Mega Thanks to everyone who helped with the Garage sale, by donating, by pricing and sorting, by staffing, with set up and cleanup.

Uncharacteristicly we were short staffed and had a couple of no shows for staffing the sale, so Huge Double thanks to the troopers who hung in above and beyond their original commitment

In the end we have made $1,692.17, almost the same as last year with half the stuff to work with.

When: May 25th, 2002 (bright and early)
Where: First Av. and Bank Street
Cost: Free!
Attendees: Too many to count
Monies Raised: $1,692.17

See? A whole page on fund-raising, and not once did we mention that we put the fun in fundraising...
