Event Recap: EnviroCentre’s Bike in Breakfast 2019

EnviroCentre’s Bike in Breakfast comes to Bank and Laurier

by Jen Stelzer

EnviroCentre hosted their 3rd annual Bike in Breakfast on May 7th . The event is a celebration of biking to work during Bike to Work Month. They work with several community partners to make the event such a great success. VeloFix is on site giving mini tune-ups, breakfast is generously donated by Eggspectations and extra coffee comes from Bridgehead, LIVE 88.5 brings the music, and the over 400 folks who drop by
bring a sense of community to a corner that usually most folks just pass by.

To help people mingle, the EnviroCentre team was encouraging them to wear stickers

EnviroCentre’s Elyse McCann has been cycling for more years than most people think she’s been alive (her secret must be all the cycling).

indicating how long they have been biking for. Some were over 40 years and some only a few weeks in! It was wonderful to see so many people coming together to share tips, cake, and a love of getting around on two wheels.
People encouraging one another is how the Bike to Work Month program has been so successful in increasing the cycling modal share in Ottawa. So far this year, 570 participants have indicated that they are new to cycling to work! Whether you already bike to work or are willing to give it a try, you can sign up and log your commutes for a chance to win great prizes!

Bikeprize
